The exuberance of Louis XV style frames

The Louis XV style, which flourished in the first half of the 18th century, was marked by the advent of an extravagant decor, where the curve and the scroll were queens. Also called "Rocaille", it shows a fantasy and an originality without equivalent. Often asymmetrical, the Louis XV frame is adorned with plant ornaments, arabesques, scrolls, and acanthus leaves. Imposing shells (or palmettes) in the corners and scalloped shapes are its most characteristic elements.

Its golden color and its sinuous lines will enhance your old works with lightly loaded compositions, such as landscapes, still lifes or certain genre scenes.
